Practice

Meditation, conduct, and everyday discipline.

A place for the more directly lived side of Yaksa: meditation, mindful eating, right speech, right thinking, vows, and the ordinary work of trying to live with a little more awareness.

What this page will become

This page is for pieces that are more directly concerned with meditation, conduct, and the practical side of Buddhist life. Not theory for its own sake, but things that can be done, returned to, struggled with, and lived.

Some pages here will be simple instructions. Some will be short reflections. Some will be corrections to modern Buddhist muddle. Some will deal with food, habit, speech, thought, vows, and the little disciplines by which a life is shaped.

In time this section will likely include meditation instructions, notes on right speech and right thinking, material on mindful eating, and other practical writings that belong more to the training of a life than to essays or poems.

What may appear here

  • Meditation instructions and notes
  • Right thinking and right speech
  • Mindful-eating pages and exercises
  • Short practical reflections on Buddhist conduct

Publishing rhythm

This page will grow slowly and deliberately. Better a few pages that are genuinely useful than a pile of worthy-sounding mush.
